A checkpoint, not a course grade

Four short questions across both chapters and one essay. Three tries each. The shorts are scored 1–4 (clear at 3–4); the essay is scored 0–100 (80 to pass) and needs at least 250 words. A solid paragraph is plenty for the shorts.
