Module 01 — Geometry Foundations
Canvas calls it a foundation for a reason. Later modules (proofs, triangles, similarity) keep using the same few words: point, line, plane, segment, ray, angle, parallel, perpendicular, circle.
If those words are fuzzy, the constructions in 01.02 and 01.03 feel like random compass tricks. They are not. Every construction is just copying a length or an angle without a ruler or a protractor.
The DBA in 01.04 and the module test after 01.09 both sit on this same floor. Notes now are cheaper than scrambling later.
Skip Getting Started (00.xx). Module 01, in the order Canvas has it:
01.05 is also the collaboration slot for this segment. You only have to collaborate once per segment. Independent is allowed if you already did a partner assignment elsewhere.
01.00 in Canvas is a 20-question pretest tagged with later lesson numbers (01.01 LC, 01.02 MC, and so on). It is worth 0 points. Canvas still treats it as an attempt you have to finish once you open it.
Do not minimize the browser, open a second tab of the course, or walk away with it open. Those lockouts are real even on a zero-point quiz.
Give it a real try. Misses are useful: they tell you which later page on this hub to hit first. They are not a grade.
FlexPoint tags stems (01.01 LC) or (01.01 MC). LC is a short vocab or definition pick. MC is longer: a story, a diagram, or “which student did the next step right.”
Four choices. Lookalike words sit in the same list on purpose: ray vs line vs segment, copy vs bisect, parallel vs perpendicular, complementary vs supplementary.
On construction quizzes the picture is the question. “What is being constructed?” and “which step is next?” beat “define midpoint.” Compass width is the usual trap: someone changed it when they should have kept it, or kept it when they needed a new width.
Later, on proofs, two answers can share the same number. The discriminator is the reason (Same-Side Interior vs a Property of Equality).
Practice on this hub matches those shapes with new items. It is not the live Canvas quiz.
