03.00 Welcome to Coordination and Control

Module 03 โ€” Coordination and Control ยท 2026-10-13

The big idea The nervous and endocrine systems detect change, communicate information, and coordinate responses on different time scales.

Organize the module as input, processing, and response

Every coordination problem becomes clearer when you track where information starts, where it is integrated, and what tissue responds.

Not sure about the basics underneath this lesson?

Two communication systems coordinate the body

The nervous system uses electrical signals along neurons and chemical signals across synapses for fast, targeted responses. The endocrine system releases hormones into the blood, often producing slower but longer-lasting and more widespread effects. Both systems help regulate internal conditions and behavior.

Follow the module path

03.01 maps neurons and nervous-system divisions. 03.02 focuses on the brain and spinal cord. 03.03 follows sensory, somatic, reflex, autonomic, and peripheral pathways. 03.04 explains nerve impulses and neuromuscular junctions. 03.05 studies endocrine glands, hormones, control mechanisms, disorders, and an assigned presentation.

Protect local-source limits

The local introduction includes a completion survey and refers to a suggested collaboration and later Discussion-Based Assessment, but their complete live prompts are not captured. Complete those items only in the assigned course. No assigned Module 03 exam lesson is present in the local course snapshot.
